Last Saturday night we held our end of season club night and awards at the fabulous Old Killarney Inn at Aghadoe. A huge turnout on the night ensured the night was a phenomenal success and the craic was only mighty.
Our chairman Steve Blennerhasset got proceedings underway thanking everyone for their hard work and dedication right across the season. A hectic season starting with the winter training at the Old Church, to Glenarm in County Antrim and many regattas in between.
Stephen then handed the microphone over to our guest of honour for the night, former Olympic rower Paul Griffin. Paul gave a fantastic speech about how he started rowing with Fossa, what and whom inspired him and chatted about his own career - his words were truly inspiring for our underage crews who absorbed every single word.
Then Paul presented certificates to all our underage crews along with coach Conor Coffey before the underage group themselves, with Adam Murphy on the microphone, made presentations of lovely hoodies to their coaches as a thank you for all the dedication across the season.
The parish league winners, the mighty Crohane led by Damian Dennehy, were presented with their trophies and cup - the cup was graciously filled by Kevin Moynihan and passed around, ensuring it was the sentre of attention well into the night.
Then our ladies section made presentations to their crews with Maire and Annie with some very novel and fun certificates handed out to very deserved winners.
All in all a truly fun night, with wonderful music by Colcannon and a huge thanks to Kevin and all the crew at the Old Killarney Inn for looking after everyone so well. Thanks also to all who worked hard to organise the night.
Finally thanks to everyone who came out on the night, it was wonderful to finish off the season with such a great night of celebration, oh and speaking of which, a very happy 15th birthday to Anastasia, the cake was absolutely fab!. Check out below for more photos from the night. Thanks to Liam, Karen and Laura for the photos.
