Team Thursday:
We are back with our Team Thursday and this week it’s our Novice Men’s David Kaneswaran. Thanks a million, David for taking part!
• How long have you been rowing?
I am very new to rowing, I started in 2025 middle of the season.
I am very new to rowing, I started in 2025 middle of the season.
• What’s your lifestyle? Student/ office job/ construction job/ night-shift etc
By day I am a digital designer, I work in software design in healthcare. I started the rowing to counteract being stuck at a laptop all day and now I’m addicted.
• What’s your favourite boat?
My favourite boat is the six, when the lake is calm, this seems to glide along the water compared to the coastal boats.
• What are you excited about for rowing this year / what are your goals?
Last year as a newly formed novice team, we almost took victory in the coastal rowing championship round at Valentia Island in our teams second ever race. It would be amazing to place higher this year with a little bit more experience. My goal is to get fitter and practice with our team more.
* What’s your favourite thing about rowing?
It is undeniable that the lakes of Killarney really show off and what better way to experience them than to be gliding along them at dusk. Calm or choppy it is the best place to be during the summer.
* what’s your favourite Killarney regatta?
Because last year was the first year I joined, I haven’t had a chance to compete but I hope it will be 2026
•Favourite rowing memory?
As a novice team we entered the Flesk Valley regatta pretty green. We came 2nd last...Our second race only three weeks later , we came 2nd in Valentia. This was a great feeling.
• Favourite short rowing story?
We have a parish league cup in Fossa Rowing Club were both men, women, novice and advanced rowers mix to compete against each other. I think I had the most fun at this competition.
• Fun fact about you?
I like anything creative and in my spare time, like to write and produce music.
• Greatest rowing achievement?
