Welcome to this week’s Team Thursday where we introduce one of our awesome rowers each week and this week it’s our men’s crew member and club treasurer, Mike Allman.
Thanks, Mike!

 •  What’s your role?
Treasurer of fossa rowing Club

 •  How long have you been rowing?
I’ve been rowing on and off for a very long time now, think I started rowing around 2006 or 2007 which is hard to believe.

 •  What’s your lifestyle?
I’m an Agricultural advisor which mainly confines me to the office so rowing counteracts that to get out into the fresh air, preferably on the lake and not in the gym

 • What’s your favourite boat?
Has to be the Lelia for its speed and comfort

 • What are your goals?
Winning the points cup, its long overdue!

 • What’s your favourite thing about rowing?
The people really there’s a great community and camaraderie  below in the club.

 •  What’s your favourite regatta?
That’s a hard one but probably the Coastal All Ireland regattas as we get to travel around the country and have the craic.

 • Favourite rowing memory?
Probably when the late DD Leahy used to bring us out for extremely long spins on the lake, he used to tell us the lads you’re rowing with now will be your friends for life, and he was right.

 • Favourite short rowing story?
The time me and Vinny griffin were rowing out to Inishfallen island in the double scull but got caught in the sandy bottom but got stuck in the sand and had to be rescued

 • Fun fact about you?
I speak five languages

 • Greatest rowing achievement?
That’s a hard one but it’s probably winning the Senior six in the Killarney regatta as they are so tough to come by.
